As you’ve probably seen from my relentless
spamming of photos on my Instagram, I have just come back from a week up in the
Lake District, a place that is very close to my heart! I have been going there
on holiday every year since I was a little girl and that won’t be changing
anytime soon; it’s definitely my favourite stress free spot.
If you haven’t been before think of luscious
green landscapes, vast mountainous areas, endless bird song and a strong sense
of serenity. When
I’m there all my stress and worries instantly disappear and it’s such a good
feeling! Being in an environment where you feel truly content is bliss. If
you’re looking for a holiday where you can switch off then the Lake District is
for you.
We packed up the car, jumped on the motorway
and drove 300 miles to our destination in a quaint village called Elterwater,
which is just outside Ambleside. Our holiday was spent strolling around,
chilling in the pool and eating some amazing food – pure bliss. There are many reasons why I am already looking forward to my
next visit; here are some photos to show you
why.
We just had to visit our favourite cafe, Chester’s by the River in Skelwith Bridge. You can’t go to the Lakes without popping in for a coffee and piece of
homemade cake. The River Brathay makes for a perfect setting to admire when
enjoying your food. Next door to the cafe is the shop where you can buy
anything from home furnishings to unique gifts for friends and family – you
could even pick up a piece of handcrafted local slate, if you wanted a memento.
We then took a short stroll back to Elterwater. On the walk itself, you can visit Colwith Force which is definitely worthwhile. There is a bridge that takes you down to the waterfall so you can get up close and personal - it makes for a good photo opportunity too!
We visited Derwentwater later on in the week. It is easily one of my favourite lakes as you can walk right the way round the waters edge and there is always so much to see, whether that be hundreds of ducks, cruisers setting off or dogs having a good ol' paddle (definitely my favourite thing).
When our week came to an end, we decided to stop off in Liverpool on the way home which I was very excited about. Liverpool is one of those cities where you can visit time and time again but never get bored - there is always something going on whether that be to do with music, food or fashion. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I am excited to visit again soon to adventure around and find some more amazing spots!
