I don’t know whether it’s just me but when a new year comes around, I always look forward to having a major clear out. Being able to declutter and reorganise my space allows me to feel refreshed and cleansed – as they say, out with the old and in with the new!

I spent two days last week sorting through every draw, cupboard and shelf to then end up with two bin bags full of rubbish. Once that was over, I was able to start on the décor. I have always had a passion for interior design so I was excited to get going on this. I treated myself to some cute little plants, soft fluffy cushions and of course, some scented candles. I mean, what blogger doesn’t love a couple of new candles? Can’t ever have too many! But, I still felt like something was missing, this is where Desenio swooped in and saved the day!

I was over the moon when I received an email from the lovely guys at Desenio, as I was lucky enough to pick out some prints to make my room transformation complete! When I sat down to decide it was actually a lot harder than I initially thought. There are so many gorgeous minimalist and scandi-style prints that I instantly fell in love with but I knew wouldn’t fit together *sob*

So, I ended up sitting for hours with my Mum and Dad, using the gallery wall tool on the Desenio website (which is amazing, by the way) to figure out what style and layout I wanted to go for. As my room is predominantly white and light pink, I decided to keep in with this colour scheme so that helped to cut down my choices.

HYGGE PRINT (30x40cm) | RESTFUL PRINT (50x70cm)

As soon as I saw the Hygge print, I knew I needed to get it. As many of you already know, I see myself as a follower and fan of hygge (you can read about my feelings here) but I also based my final project at university around the lifestyle and I met some amazing people who helped me do it. I am still incredibly proud of my work so hygge will always hold many happy memories for me.

So, the next print I chose is of the sea to reminisce on my time in Cornwall. Since moving back to Surrey after graduating, I have really missed living five minutes away from the beach. There is something special about sitting on the sand and watching the waves roll in, it allows you to completely de-stress and feel content with life. So if I can’t be down in Cornwall, Cornwall will have to come to me!

To add a small pop of colour, I decided on the dusty rose poster as roses are easily my favourite flower but this close up gives a unique abstract perspective on a traditional favourite. I absolutely love the pale pink and it fits perfectly with the colour of my walls so win win! I feel it is important to have a pop of colour running throughout a feature wall otherwise everything will start to blend in and get lost. Colour can allow you to express an emotion or feeling through imagery and that is a powerful thing!

Last but not least is this simple typography, which is a nice little reminder to look at on a daily basis. This text reads: 'You don't always need a plan, sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go, and see what happens'. I mean, who doesn’t love an inspirational quote? I know I do! Having these dotted around a room inspires me to push through any problems I may have and allows me to stay positive. But as well as that, I feel these quotes are perfect for if you want to add white space into a gallery wall. Picking all large graphic prints can sometimes look busy but with a couple of minimalist posters added in there, it gives you good balance and ties everything together!

As a photographer, I believe every room should be filled with beautiful art pieces that you enjoy as prints instantly change the look and feel of a space. You can add a splash of colour, a bold pattern or go down the minimalist route, like me! If you are doing up a bedroom, buying your first house or just fancy treating yourself, head over to Desenio and have a little look - I know you will find something you love!

What do you think to my choices? I know I will be making many more orders. I'd love to know what you’d pick so don't forget to use my discount code to make a cheeky print purchase.
