MY FAVOURITE SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Today I will be giving you a peek inside my favorite skincare products! I find myself being a total skincare junkie as my skin has ALWAYS been an absolute nightmare and I like to figure out new ways and products to help me embrace and feel confident with a bare face. I have incredibly oily skin and I’m prone to breakouts 24/7, with this; I have tried many items along the way so I thought I would put together a small list of my favourite skin products that I think work! Remember to look after your skin, guys. The more you do now, the better it will be in later life.

I’m going to start with cleansers as I have two favourites and I definitely cant pick between them - they are a little different as one is a liquid and the other is a paste! I was introduced to the Lush Herbalism Cleanser a couple of months ago and I ADORE it so, I didn’t think anything could come close, until I tried the Super Facialist Anti Blemish Cleansing Wash. Both of these products make face washing incredibly easy and they leave my skin feeling soft and hydrated.

I was lucky enough to be sent over the Super Facialist Anti Blemish Cleansing Wash and I’m so glad I was introduced to it. Being rather novice, I had never really reached for a cleanser but then I wondered why my skin would breakout. I have tried and tested many since I jumped on the skincare bandwagon and not many compare to Super Facialist’s. When using it for the first time, I was instantly drawn to how smooth the product felt in my hand. It was also incredibly thick so when applying it to your skin, it didn’t just run off down into the sink. I find this perfect to use in the morning when having a shower and then just before bed as it leaves your skin so smooth and feeling clean. I have only been using this for a week or so but I am already impressed and if I dare say it, I can see a difference in my skin. If you haven’t heard of Super Facialist, they are a natural skincare brand that specifically developed their products to suit each individual. Whether you have dry, combination, normal, dull or aging skin, head over to their website and check out their product. They are also sold in Boots – win win!

I bought this little tub about two months ago after popping into Lush and asking for a miracle to help with my horrific skin and I couldn’t have asked for a better product. First impressions were a weird one as it’s not what you initially expect a cleanser to look like but, once adding water, it does the job perfectly. The smell is earthy and fresh which also helps you to feel clean and ready for the day.

The only one slight issue I had at the beginning was getting used to mixing the product. You place a small amount in the palm of your hand and then add water. You need to make sure you get a good ratio of water to product otherwise you wont create the ‘perfect’ paste and you’ll just end up with a watery green liquid on your face which is impossible to rub in. You don’t need a lot of product to work up a substantial amount so a 100g pot could easily last you months and months. All the ingredients within the cleanser itself are natural and have their own benefits, like nettles and rosemary cleanse the skin and remove dirt. Chamomile and rose are used for balancing skin tone and ground almonds exfoliate for a soft hydrated face.

If you’re like me with oily and spot prone skin and you’re looking for a way to combat blemishes then use this in conjunction with Grease Lightening and you will see a massive difference in the matter of weeks. I would recommend this product to anyone!

I will now move onto spot treatment, as I have been known to use either toothpaste or Sudocrem and go to bed with an entire white face but, I must admit, they never truly worked for me – maybe I was just kidding myself. I knew I needed to find something to combat stubborn spots and this is when I again popped into Lush and came across Grease Lightening, it has honestly changed everything!

It always seems to be impossible to get rid of a spot, once its already appeared but trying to prevent it is key! Grease Lightening is packed with tea tree, aloe vera, rosemary and thyme, which help to shrink and sooth your spots without affecting the skin around them. I usually apply this product once I can feel a spot under the skin, as by that time, I can hopefully avoid it. The gel itself absorbs and dry’s quickly and matte but, I will say, don’t apply it in the morning as it does flake during the day. Only apply it at night and then wash your face in the when you get up. Compared to other spot treatment gels that you usually find at the drugstore, this one doesn’t sting your face when applying, it actually feels cooling straight away. I recommend using this with the cleanser as it has really worked for me.

A huge part of my skincare routine is to have a long soak in the bath and exfoliate my entire body! The skin on my legs and arms tend to get incredibly dry and itchy so this is a key step.

I have never really been an exfoliating kind of girl, but since receiving the conditioning body scrub from Malēe, my views have changed. In the past, I have experienced scrubs that have left me with red patches and rashes from being rough on the skin so I would always stray away from using them. I thought exfoliating didn’t have many advantages but I couldn’t have been more wrong!

Since using the body scrub, my dry and irritated skin is no longer a problem. When getting out the bath, my entire body feels smooth and rejuvenated. The scrub is gentle on the skin and I haven’t had a problem with redness since using it. Instead of harsh chemicals, it contains all natural ingredients that are an effective combination of salts, oils and sugars with acids to moisturise, wipe out imperfections and reveal a healthy glow. I have also found that a little bit goes a long way. Don’t use too much otherwise it will go to waste. Apply a small amount onto a sponge or hand and gently rub all over your body. If you’re looking for a new body scrub that smells amazing and leaves your skin feeling smooth, fresh and healthy then head over and take a look at Malēe. I couldn’t recommend this enough!

After having a nice bubble bath, I like to sit and do a facemask as a way to wind down. I have tried and tasted many facemasks and sheets throughout the years and I do have many favourites but I find myself reaching for this one the most.

This mask by Super Facialist is within the same Anti-Blemish range as the cleanser and they definitely work hand in hand. I don’t know about you but I never really expect a lot from a facemask but I will use them easily once or twice a week, as I feel better for applying one. What I love about the Super Facialist facemask compared to many others is how you can feel it working. Once you have applied it, it dries within about 5 minutes and it instantly sinks in. Washing off is simple as it wipes off well and doesn’t leave any annoying stubborn bits around your nose or hairline. Afterwards, when you touch your skin, it feels incredibly soft and very clean. I will always look for a deep cleansing pore mask as that way, you can usually feel it working and that is definitely the case with this one by Super Facialist. I also love how inexpensive this mask is as you get an entire tube, which gives you multiple uses for just £9.99! I will continue to use this mask, as I am very impressed with how well it works and how amazing it makes my skin feel.

My two final steps are to tone and moisturise. I’m not going to lie; I don’t have a clue what ‘order’ a skincare routine should go in so I just sort of make it up as I go along. But, I feel these steps are the most important so these two final products are like my holy grail.

I have been a fan of The Body Shop for years now and I have heard a crazy amount about how good their tea tree products are for oily skin so I was super excited to try out the toner. As I love a good multi-tasking product, this toner has various advantages for your skin. The tea tree oil purifies and tones whilst removing all traces of makeup, which could clog your pores. The mattifying powder within the toner itself also reduces shine and makes your skin look visibly clearer. The first time I used this product, I was surprised with how strong the tea tree was but, when putting the product on a cotton wool pad and wiping my face over, I could feel the ingredients soaking up all my unwanted oils and drying up my spots. If you’re in a rush or your skin is feeling greasy then having this makes life so much easier as you can just wipe and feel instantly fresh and clean. I will continue to use this toner as it truly is a miracle worker as it works wonders on my problem skin.

(Side note: If you need some help with finding out about what products to use for your skin type, head over to The Body Shop website and click on the ‘My Skin Type’ tab. It allows you to pick from your skin, a concern you may have or your age and then products appear, which they recommend for you. An absolute lifesaver!)

I can’t even remember the first time I bought this moisturizer but yet it’s still my go to so it must be good, right? I remember using other moisturisers a couple of years ago but still nothing compares to this one. Others used to leave my face sticky and even oilier but, this one is light, non greasy and easily absorbed. After cleansing my face, my skin sometimes feels tight but as soon as I apply the product it instantly makes my face nourished and hydrated again. I’m not sure what else I can say about a good moisturiser but trust me on this one; if you’re looking for a light and non-greasy product then try this one out!

So there you go, a pretty long round up of my favourite skincare products, at the moment. I’m always devoted to the brands that I know and love, as my skin can be so temperamental. I trust their products and find no matter what I use they’re always good for my skin. All these products are ones I use daily and I find are most suited to my skin type.
